What is Ecotourism?

Ecotourism is defined as “responsible travel to natural areas that does no harm to the environment, sustains the well-being of the local people, and involves interpretation and education”. Education is meant to be inclusive of both staff and guests.

Kayaking the Indian River Lagoon

Kayaking Central Florida’s Indian River Lagoon one of the best Florida experiences you can have!

The Indian River Lagoon System boasts the highest biodiversity of any estauary ecosystem in the country.

Kayak or Paddleboard the Indian River Lagoon with Kayak NSB  and you can find yourself in water loaded with fish, wading birds and many varieties of marine life. Paddling among manatees and dolphins is a common occurrence.

Our Kayak NSB Eco Tours, partnered with Nichols Surf Shop, last about 2 hours. We take individuals and/or groups into the mangrove forests, coves and tidal marshes of the Indian River Lagoon.

Overview of Touring Florida’s Indian River Lagoon

There are three primary water bodies within the Indian River Lagoon system.

They include the Indian River Lagoon itself, the Banana River, and the Mosquito Lagoon.

Paddling the Indian River Lagoon offers the chance to see manatees, dolphins and bird life; such a gannets, gulls, shorebirds, and wading birds along its’ shores.

Looking into the water as you paddle may reward you with the sighting of a sea-turtle grazing on algae.

In the warmer months you will find conchs, rays and and sea urchins – just to name a few.

We also stop at “natures salad bar” and treat you to some of the Indian River Lagoon’s wild edibles!

Come join Kayak NSB for a spectacular Indian River EcoTour experience! Unwind as your tour guide takes you on a relaxing, educational, and fun journey.

We also offer:
